As I’m sitting here writing this article and looking out over all the dead bark beetle trees, I realize our landscape will be changed for at least the rest of my life.  The good news is there is a lot of seedlings coming up and with the rain they are growing rapidly.  The county is in the process of hiring a person to manage the dead trees along the roads and near our homes.   I am in the process of working with CAL Fire in bringing in an Air-Curtain burner so people will have a place to bring their logs to get them burned.  It will be a great program with no cost.  Just a reminder when people come around to fall trees next to your homes make sure they have insurance, are qualified and the price they are charging is a fair price.  I don’t like to hear about fallers taking advantage of the elderly or the situation, charging outrages prices, so shop around.
We will be starting our weed spraying program along the roads again.  This program helps protect our roads, protects against fire and helps site visibility.  If you don’t want the weeds sprayed on the road right-a-way, there is an opt-out application which you can get on my website or the county’s website, but then it is your responsibility to keep the weeds down according to the county specification.  We are trying to make our roads last longer and be safer for everyone.
